Dismissed Lee County Middle School Math Teacher Files Federal Disability Discrimination Lawsuit

A former Lee County middle school teacher has filed a federal lawsuit against the school board that claims she was discriminated against for her disability — and eventually lost her job — when she took time off to have hip replacement surgery.

Amie Johnson’s attorney, Benjamin Yormak, filed the complaint on Tuesday, citing that the district violated the federal Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
